Antifa = Axis of Evil? Wait a minute…

I was about to write some shit about Antifa because of what I heard in the media. I was getting ready to make the same mistake, that many of us do, by judging a book by its media influenced cover. I’m trying not to be just another bullshit spouter, but it is hard to avoid getting caught up in the rhetoric. So I am doing a deep dive on Antifa to see what’s up. My boyfriend keeps spouting on about Antifa this, and Antifa that, and it’s really Antifa who invaded Congressional hill, and, on and on. The biggest insult of all being that black people equal Antifa, which equals terrorism, which equals killing all the white people. That’s like saying all Mexican immigrants are rapists so we have to build a wall to protect our white women’s vajayjays. It’s always about white women’s vajayjays with these people. What’s that all about?

Well, here’s the real scoop folks. Read it and weep, white supremacy and main stream media, who don’t give a fuck about us.

Here’s a Wikipedia synopsis (Kimberly comments in purple):

Antifa (/ænˈtiːfə, ˈænti(ˈ)fɑː/) is a left-wing anti-fascist and anti-racist political movement in the United States. It is highly decentralized and comprises an array of autonomous groups that aim to achieve their objectives through the use of both nonviolent and violent direct action rather than through policy reform.[1][2][3] Much of antifa political activism is nonviolent, involving poster and flyer campaigns, mutual aid, delivering speeches, marching in protest, and community organizing.[4][5][6] That sounds ok. They also engage in protest tactics, seeking to combat fascists and racists such as neo-Naziswhite supremacists, and other far-right extremists, and differing from other leftist opposition movements by their willingness to directly confront far-right activists, and in some cases law enforcement.[2] I’m all about that. We need some one to stand up to those jerks. This may involve digital activismdoxing, harassment, physical violence, and property damage against those whom they identify as belonging to the far right.[7 Well, that’s not right. You shouldn’t sink to the tactics of the ones you don’t agree with. That’s exactly what the neoconservatives do. That’ll never work.

Individuals involved in the movement tend to hold anti-authoritariananti-capitalist, and anti-state views, subscribing to a range of left-wing ideologies such as anarchismcommunismMarxismsocial democracy, and socialism.[8] The name antifa and the logo with two flags representing anarchism and communism are derived from the German antifa movement.[9] That’s alright, just don’t go too far. Everybody has the right to believe in what they believe in as long as it doesn’t hurt others. I don’t think anyone should be anti-anything. They should just try to do what’s right. There are good and bad things about everything. Nothing’s black and white…ever. Authoritarianism sucks, run away capitalism sucks, extreme communism sucks, parts of socialism suck. You gotta take the good out of all of it and put it together into some cohesive form. I tend to lean towards a social democracy. However, these systems are run by human beings, mostly males, who are quite flawed. Maybe we should give the females a chance. Matriarchy seems to work better than patriarchy. Perhaps with the assistance of patriarchy could work. Good luck on testosterone stepping aside.

Antifa activists actions have received support and criticism from various organizations and pundits, with some on the American Left criticizing antifa for its willingness to adopt violent direct actions and for being counterproductive or backfiring by emboldening the right and their allies.[10]  I totally agree with that. It’s happening right in my house with my partner. I personally know of other households this is happening in as well. It’s funny most of us are involved with partners that are not of our same ethnicity, the women identify as African American, the men identify as European American. This narrative has created a schism in our households. Part of the right characterizes it as a domestic terrorist organization or uses antifa as a catch-all term[11] for any left-leaning or liberal protest actions.[12] Some scholars argue that antifa is a legitimate response to the rise of the far right[13] and that antifa’s violence such as milkshaking is not equivalent to right-wing violence.[3]OMG! I’d never heard of milkshaking until now, I love this idea. Let’s throw milkshakes at people instead of molotov cocktails! That’s some awesomeness right there.  Scholars tend to reject the equivalence between antifa and white supremacism.[2][14][15] See, Scholars know what they are talking about. Those are the people I listen to.

There have been multiple efforts to discredit antifa groups via hoaxes on social media, many of them false flag attacks originating from alt-right and 4chan users posing as antifa backers on Twitter.[16][17][18] Some hoaxes have been picked up and reported as fact by right-leaning media.[16][19][20] During the George Floyd protests in May and June 2020, the Trump administration blamed antifa for orchestrating the mass protests; analysis of federal arrests did not find links to antifa.[21]There have been repeated calls by Donald Trump and William Barr to designate antifa as a terrorist organization[22]despite the fact that it is not an organization, a move that academics, legal experts, and others argue would exceed the authority of the presidency and violate the First Amendment.[23][24][25] Several analyses, reports, and studies concluded that antifa is not a major domestic terrorism risk and ranked far-right extremism and white supremacy as the top domestic risk.[15][26][27] See, fuckin’ media, man. Where are the real journalists like Edward R. Murrow? Where are the Broadcast Journalists like Walter Cronkite, Barbara Walters, Peter Jennings, Dan Rather, David Brinkley, Tom Brokaw, Ted Koppel and the likes of them? You are an embarrassment to those who have gone before you. I’m talking about the liberals as well as the conservatives. I don’t remember your predecessors taking the most fashionable side or the side that was paying them. Well you can’t help it because you have been bought by the rich owners of news papers who are the very few. They, like William Randolph Hearst’s yellow journalism, think they have the right to tell us what to believe because they have the money to do it with. Perhaps it was always that way, however, I remember listening to the old ones and they seem to make sense when they reported. They seemed to put forward some unbiased truth. So that, though I was very young, I would listen to them. A child has a sense of innocence and can tell if you’re flat out lying. You have grossly failed us and should be ashamed of yourselves. You need to have a come to Jesus moment where you will get off your cushy asses and be responsible for what you supposedly promise to do. My journalism Professor Sarah Pollock gave us this, The Journalist’s Code of Ethics:

What happened to all of you? Have you been brainwashed by Harvard and the like?

  1. Hi Kimberly,
A great article, well reasoned and I love your commentary. We miss trusted commentators such as Dan Rather who was unafraid to speak truth to power.
Let’s hope the new Administration addresses the deep fissures in our society and is active and courageous to provide much needed change. They have 2 years to make a real difference. Bold action. Learn from FDR and the New Deal. End the Electoral College and the Fillibuster, make Dc a State. Create real jobs.
